Living A Healthy Lifestyle

Good Morning Loves,

If you've followed me for a while, you probably know that living a healthy lifestyle is something that is really important to me.  Today, I am excited to share with you three of the ways I balance a busy schedule with living healthy.

1. You are what you eat.  Before I go any further I must tell you, I do NOT stick to this rule 100% of the time.  I love pizza and ice cream just as much as the next girl.  However, it is not something I allow myself to enjoy every day.   In order to live a healthy lifestyle I try to eat as healthy as possible while not depriving myself of things I want and enjoy.  During the week, I start my days off with a wholesome breakfast… eggs and fruit, cereal with fresh berries on top,  or a whole grain bagel with low-fat cream cheese.  For me, it is important to get the day started off right.  If I grab fast food on my way to work, I am much more likely to eat something not so healthy later on in the day.  For lunch I like to keep things lite…grilled chicken salad or a turkey sandwich.  The more I eat at lunch the more sluggish I feel throughout the rest of the day.  When it comes to dinner time I try to have at least one green thing every night… a salad, green beans or broccoli.
2. Going to the gym is not one of my favorite things to do.  But, being active is.  So, I like to find active alternatives to the gym. The hubs and I are lucky enough to have a college with a beautiful campus right outside our back door.  On a crisp, cool spring evening we love to head over and walk around the campus.  There is a beautiful lake with many different gardens and who doesn’t love to stop and smell the roses?  Our home, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is also wonderful because it has several beautiful state parks with great hiking.  Depending on the weekend, we may go for a quick morning hike or a longer hike that takes the better part of the day.  And of course, you know my favorite way to be active is shopping.  Yes, I do believe “hiking” around the mall after work in a cute dress and pumps is considered being active, which leads me to my third and final way I enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

3. As a fashion lover, there is nothing that makes me more motivated to be active than all the bright, cute, comfortable, activewear out these days.  The new C9 by Champion brand at Target has some great options for fashion forward activeware that meets all of my needs.  For a top I love this fit and flare tank. Not only does it come in great neon colors, but it’s not clingy to your body so you can move around without feeling tight and uncomfortable like some activewear. Since it’s still a bit cool in the mornings and evenings here, I like to pair a tank top with a longer bottom like these knee pants and a light pullover like this super soft jacket. For the hot Summer months, I can't wait to try these cute running shorts paired with this neon sports bra. Wearing the perfect activewear allows you to feel feminine and motivated while enjoying your active lifestyle.

What motivates you to live a healthy lifestyle?

  4. Megan,
I hate going to the gym and "working out"! BUT, I love being active as well...whether it's playing volleyball, walking on the beach, swimming, etc. And I am just like you in that we can literally see the university from our back yard. I think eating is so important to a healthy lifestyle...I can work out for days but if I don't eat right, nothing changes. Love this post!

  6. I love that last top you shared from Target! Cute workout gear is a great way to get yourself more excited about it. I really need to upgrade from my tshirts to cute tops. I also love going for walks with my BF after work. He's also started to teach me to play tennis, it's so fun to be active together!
