11 Things...

Happy Wednesday Loves!

One of my daily reads, Liz at With a little Style & Ease, had this fun little "11 Things" on her blog on Friday.  It was so fun I thought I would participate too!

11 Fun Facts
1. I can touch the tip of my elbow with my tongue—some say it’s impossible, but I beg to differ!

2.  My parents got married in the same Church I did, 30 years before.

3. My dream job when I was little was to be a lifeguard on the beach.

4. I shared a room with my sister for the first 18 years of my life—I wouldn’t change it for the world.

5. I am obsessed with taking baths. I take at least 2, sometimes 3 a day.

6. I used to make coffee at Atlanta Bread Company as my “after school job” until I started working at Maya Tan.

7. Whenever I feel stressed, I shop. In person or online, either way works. :)

8. I have never been stung by a bee—knock on wood!

9. I have my Cosmetology License but yet I work in Accounting for a Country Club…I know it makes no sense to me either.

10. I watch so many TV Shows that I have to write them all down in my planner so I don’t forget them.

11. I didn't walk around very much in my dress before our Wedding Day so it looked like I was walking down the aisle in slow motion because it was a tad too long and I didn’t want to trip!

11 Questions
1. If you could raid any celebrity's closet, who would it be and why?
Really, I have to choose?  Lauren Conrad because I absolutely adore her girly, chic style.  But, also Rachel Zoe because she has more designer clothes and accessories than I’ll ever see in my life!

2. If you were a shoe, what would you look like?
Pinned Image
I'd look like this pretty Manolo.  Girly & Gold with sparkles and without a doubt—a bow!

3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Being late, I absolutely cannot stand it.

4. Favorite song of all-time?
It’s so hard to choose…can I just say Country music in general?

5. Are you a dog person or cat person and why?
Dogs 100%.  Cats are too independent.

6. You're queen for a day.  how do you spend your royal 24 hours?
Well, I would start by sleeping in, waking up to a home cooked breakfast, picking out my wardrobe in my huge walk-in closet, meeting my girlfriends for lunch at a fabulous restaurant, then shopping at Bergdorf’s while handing off my bags to my own personal “carrying boys”, next going to get a massage while lying on the beach followed by a French pedicure and then changing in to my Dior gown for dinner with my King hubby in the enormous dining room in our Mansion. :)

7. What's the most delicious thing you've ever eaten?
I have to go with the cheese rolls from Jim and Nicks on King Street in Charleston—there’s nothing like them.  As far as sweets, Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory has my heart.

8. What scares you the most?
Drowning and being alone.

9. Which celebrity do you wish would drift off into obscurity?
The cast of Jersey Shore—I will never understand how they get paid so much money to act ridiculous and stay drunk all the time.

10. You're 16 again.  What advice do you give your younger self?
Don't take life too seriously.  Cherish the time with your girlfriends.  Drive the speed limit. DON'T date the same guy all through high school. Travel more.

11. What's your Starbucks order?
A Grande, White Chocolate Mocha with Skim Milk and Whip Cream! At least the Skim Milk makes me feel a little bit better about the cals!
If you want to post this on your blog, I will do a link from mine to yours!  Have a great Hump Day everyone!

Academy Awards

Good Morning!

Happy Tuesday!  Okay, so let’s jump right in and talk Fashion.  The Oscar’s are by far the biggest Award Show of all—some of the A list stars were rockin’ the Red Carpet and some…well, not so much.  I loved so many of the dresses and accessories this year.  I mean, can you imagine getting to wear a gorgeous dress, thousands of dollars in jewelry, designer heels and carrying a beautiful Judith Leiber clutch??  It doesn’t get much better than that, even if you do have to give it all back at the end of the night.  If I lived in LA, I’m pretty sure I would be trying to get in to one of those after parties!  Here are a few of my favorite looks from the night:

Angelina Jolie
Tuesday Ten: My Oscars Best-Dressed List

Kristen Wiig
84th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
Stacy Keibler

Louise Roe
Tuesday Ten: My Oscars Best-Dressed List

Gwyneth Paltrow
Giuliana Rancic Clothes
Giuliana Rancic

All of these women look amazing, but my two favorites of the night are Giuliana Rancic in Tony Ward Couture and Stacy Keibler in that beautiful Marchesa dress.  Other than Angelina in classic black, you can tell that creams, blushes and gold are my go to on the Red Carpet and in my closet!  Who did you pick for Best Dressed 2012?  I hope you all have a great day!

Healthy Snacks

Happy Monday Morning Loves!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  How amazing were the Oscar's last night??  Some of those dresses were to die for!  I'll post a few of my faves later this week.  Today I wanted to do a post on Healthy Snacks.  Most people immediately turn to chips and cookies for a quick snack, but those things can be so bad for you and your metabolism.  Snacks are not meant to be "mini meals" they are supposed to tide you over until your next meal.  Snacks help to prevent overeatting at meal time.  Everyone is different, but I snack all day long-- It helps me stay satisfied.  If I decide to not eat, that's when I usually make the worst diet decisions because I'm starving!  So instead of starving yourself between meals, have a nutritious snack.  Here are a few healthy options for your day:
Slim Tip: Surviving the Snack Attack
Hummus & Veggies- Hummus is rich in protein and fiber, so it keeps you feeling full!

Slim Tip: Surviving the Snack Attack
Greek Yogurt- This is a great snack.  If your yogurt is plain, add a little honey with your favorite fruit or sliced almonds.  This also has a lot of calcium!

Slim Tip: Surviving the Snack Attack
Apple & String Cheese- Have a piece of fruit with a side of cheesy protein.  This will help you stay satisfied "helps to adjust your bodies fat-burning machine" according to Web MD.

Slim Tip: Surviving the Snack Attack
This is my favorite type of snack.  1 graham cracker with a little cream cheese spread over the top and 8 grapes cut in halves.  Yum!

I always feel much better when I've eaten healthy.  It gives me more energy and helps me stay on track for the next day.  I hope you all have a great Monday!!

Meg

Charleston Getaway

Good Morning Dolls!

Happy Thursday!  Just think, one more work day after today and we’re already back to the weekend.  One of my favorite things in life is to simply  get outta town!  J and I decided on a whim to go on a quick getaway trip to Charleston this past weekend.  When we were dating, one of the first things we did together was go on a day trip to Charleston.  We had the most perfect day together and that was the first time I actually knew that this was the man I wanted to spend my life with—so I joke and call it “our love place”.  Anytime we can clear our schedules and sneak off somewhere, we take advantage of it and head to Charleston.  We love everything about the city from the food to the charm to the history. (And of course, the shopping for me!)  This trip was quick, but nonetheless full of fun and laughter.  We ate at a couple of our favorite restaurants: Magnolia’s on East Bay Street and Jim and Nick’s on King Street, did a little shopping on King and the Market, toured the Calhoun Mansion on Meeting Street and, got a little rest back at the Hotel.  The photographer in J loves to walk the old cobblestone roads taking tons of photos so we tend to do a lot of that, which is totally relaxing in every sense of the word.  Of course since it’s not summer, we couldn’t lay out on the beach all day like we would’ve loved to, but we did go!  We were the only troopers not in Ugg Boots—we were barefoot. In February. At 8 o’clock in the morning.  (Note to self: Next time, wear Uggs.)  It was freezing, but completely worth it!  To me, there’s no better view in the world than standing on the shore watching the waves crash.  I’m a beach girl, it’s where I belong. :)  Here are a few pictures from our lovely trip!

Thank You Notes

Happy Wednesday!

Well, just that quick, it’s Hump Day again—It’s all down hill from here and hopefully smooth sailing!  You know when you’re little and you thought it was amazing to receive mail?  I would run to the mail box every day after school, usually to only find bills to pass off to my parents, but occasionally when something had MY name on it, I was ecstatic.  That feeling never really left me!  It’s so refreshing when going through bills and junk mail to see something personal.  With technology running rapid these days, people forget to write a hand written note because they’ve already sent a quick email or text.  When we receive an invitation or save the date, I literally cannot wait to run hang it on the fridge—and the same goes for a thank you note or card.  It’s the little things that make you feel the best, when you know someone has taken the time out of their busy schedule to write you a card.  Now let’s be honest, some people need a lesson on etiquette—at least book to read or something!  Any time you receive a gift it is a must to send a thank you note, I mean it’s common courtesy and a no brainer.  The same applies for when a friend invites you over or when you attend a formal invitation only event (excluding wedding ceremonies of course) according to Emily Post's Etiquette Book.  Also, it’s fun to pick out cards to send that match your personality.  Sometimes I can tell who the card is from before I even open it!  My go to is (of course) a monogrammed card—it’s southern, classy and personalized.  Here are a few super cute Note Cards and Thank You’s:

Send a card to a friend this week with a few words of encouragement just to let them know they're loved--I promise you will make their day!

Host & Hostess Gifts

Happy Tuesday!

Good Morning Lovelies!  I hope you all had a great weekend! I'm sorry I didn't post anything yesterday, J and I decided to take a little getaway to Charleston since we had a long weekend, so I was roaming the streets and shopping on King yesterday not thinking for one minute about posting a blog! We laughed and ate so much on our trip and had such an amazing time.  I'll post photos later this week!  Let’s jump right in today—One of my favorite things to do is entertain.  I love having family and friends over whether it be for dinner, coffee after a night out or a late night movie.  Like I’m sure I’ve said before, home is my favorite place to be and enjoy sharing it with the people I love.  Sometimes, an intimate setting in a friend’s home makes for a much better date night.  I also love to be entertained.  I really enjoy spending time at friends/families homes, it allows you to learn more about someone and opens you up to a little bit of their everyday life.  I always try to have a little “surci” as we like to call it (or gift) for the Hostess.  It’s just a nice way to let them know you appreciate them inviting you over and gives them something for entertaining friends the next time!  I love all of the fancy items that fall under the “kitchen category” so normally that’s my go to gift for others as well.  Nothing makes you feel better when you’ve created a tasty meal than having beautiful platters to sit the food on and lovely pieces to serve with.  This is definitely not a must, just something I like to do.  When you frequent a friend or family members home often and feel comfortable around them, it’s definitely not expected, but nevertheless thoughtful to do occasionally.  Here are a few gifts that any hostess would adore:

Monogram Candle:

Set of Coasters:
Antique-Silver Drink Coasters, Set of 4

Plant:

Monogrammed Guest Towels:

Set of Glasses:
Stemless Flute Glasses, Set of 6

Spreaders:
Antique-Silver Spreaders, Set of 2

Soap Set:
Monogrammed Soaps, Set of 6

Classic Vase:

You can purchase any of these lovely gifts here.

Personalizing gifts make them extra special and thoughtful.  Don't be afraid to show a little appreciation with a "just beacuse" gift too--Make someone's day with a sweet gift simply because you love them. :)

Have a fun day!

xoxo,
Meg

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Loves!!

Finally, the weekend is almost here—it’s so close I can taste it!  AND, (here’s the kicker) it’s a 3 DAY weekend for me!  At 5 o’clock today, I will literally be the happiest girl.  We took a poll a while back in our Sunday School class (young married couples) about what people our age live for, and we all agreed it’s the weekend.  It beat out Christmas, Vacations and a few other things—although those are great, the weekend is waayyy closer and occurs waayyy more often.  This week was a little crazy and definitely busy so I’m looking forward to relaxing, hopefully having the motivation to work out and catching up with my some of my family who will be in town.  Fingers crossed for beautiful weather all weekend—I’m so ready for Spring, it’s ridiculous! (The forecast is not looking so great as of today, but we can still hope!)  Without further ado, here are my Friday Favorites for the week!
